My Home Decor
It seems like everyone always wants to see more backgrounds from where our pictures are taken. These pictures are taken in our home and gardens. Thanks for all your compliments.
How did I start collecting architectural, or windows, or wedding cakes toppers, or anything else that I have? I had no plan! I just buy what I LOVE, and it starts from there. I will periodically post pictures of our ever changing decor to share with you. And, tell you exactly how I got started with that area of our home.
CHERUBS & ANGELS ~~~A COLLECTION??
If someone asks me what I collect, I always think that I don’t collect anything, I just love too many things to collect any one particular thing. Then I just walk around my home and I begin to see similar items, but spread out throughout the house. So, is that considered a collection? Realizing that the pictures on My Home Décor were not looking like my home anymore, I knew it was time to update this area of my website. Cherubs and angels are something that I have in just about every room, so maybe it is something that I collect.
One day while driving to a flea market about 4 AM in the morning, I spotted in the distance a wrong way driver on the freeway heading towards me. I calmly moved over into the slow lane and stayed in a defensive mode in case he started to swerve over into my lane. He passed me, and I called 911 and then continued to the flea market, a little shaky over my close call. The first thing I spotted, when I arrived at the flea market was an old crib headboard with a Guardian Angel watching over the sleeping children. I bought it, knowing that Someone had been watching over me. I later learned the driver crashed and killed the driver in the next car about a mile behind me. So, that crib piece hangs on the wall in my dining room to remind me that someone is always watching over me.
Some of the other cherubs and angels you see in the pictures are on statues, paintings, an old vase, a vintage pole lamp, a barbola lamp shade and candleholders. And of course there are two other salvaged iron crib headboards. So, I guess you can say with three of these, I must “collect” old iron crib headboards with angels and cherubs. Or, like my son might say, I’m a little out of control!
