THIS IS AN OLD SALVAGED ARCHITECTURAL NEWEL POST OR COLUMN THAT IS ORNATE WITH THE ORIGINAL OLD WHITE PAINT. This could easily be a keeper. I love to add a newel post to any room in my home. This is an older newel post that is all wood. It has a stunning shape with some awesome detailing. It looks like there might have been another piece or finial at the top, which is missing. At the back, it has the unpainted part where it was removed from the banister. It has the original white paint. It is chippy, with paint loss, peely paint and time worn for an amazing patina. A perfect way to add a touch of architectural interest to your room. Great in any shabby chic, Victorian, Antique, romantic cottage or French country home. Measurements are from about 41" tall by 7 1/2" at the bottom. It weighs about 22 pounds.
