THIS IS AN OLD SALVAGED ARCHITECTURAL NEWEL POST OR COLUMN THAT IS ORNATE WITH A FINIAL AND WITH AN AWESOME PATINA. This could easily be a keeper. I love to add a newel post to any room in my home. This is an older newel post that is all wood. It has a stunning shape with the nice finial at the top. It has some awesome detailing. There are some old cracks, but it is solid. At the back, it has the unpainted parts where it was removed from the banister. It has the original white paint! It is chippy, with paint loss, time worn for an amazing patina. A perfect way to add a touch of architectural interest to your room. Great in any shabby chic, Victorian, Antique, romantic cottage or French country home. Measurements are from about 48" tall by 8" by 8". It weighs about 33 pounds
