Romantic Homes April, 2000

Thirteen years ago, Christie Repasy was painting furniture for friends neighbors and a growing list of clients. Soon, they began asking her to design and paint floral scenes on their walls to match. With her enthusiasm for capturing the beauty of roses and the inspiration of her grandmother, Christie’s talent for brightening a room took a romantic twist. She began painting oil portraits of roses and selling them through local boutique shops. Her talent and passion have been blossoming ever since.

"My grandmother left me a collection of flower painting books, which eventually inspired me to focus on roses as my sole subject," says Christie, a self-taught artist who displays her stunning floral portraits in a charming Southern California beach cottage. "I love painting roses because of the way they make me feel. Capturing their delicateness on canvas is the essence of what I do, and why I do it."

Inspired by turn-of-the-century European artists, her own garden of roses and floral arrangements she happens upon, Christie gathers her ideas by trusting her personal instincts then paints what she feels at the time.
